Longer battery life.

Time and resources are lost each time you return to the field to change your batteries. And the more parts you have to keep track of, the more cumbersome these trips become. Our engineers kept these pain points front of mind when designing new enclosures for the Mini 2, Mini Bat 2, and Micro 2. 

After months of 3D modeling and testing, we achieved greater battery life without going bigger: Second-gen recorders feature ergonomic, hinged enclosures—and 33 to 100% improved battery over their predecessors.

The soundscapes & wildlife you listen for exist in all climates & terrains. To ensure our second-gen recorders perform reliably in harsh conditions, we repeatedly subjected them to extreme temperatures & humidity in our Environmental Test Chamber, where they were tested to withstand sustained temps of 55℃ & -20℃ before cycling through these extremes. 

We then submerged them in one meter for 30 minutes to certify their water resistance according to International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards.

All so you don’t miss a sound—whether you deploy in desert heat, frozen peaks, tropical forests, or driving rain.

Low noise, high fidelity.

A lot is staked on your recordings, so we invested heavily in testing equipment. Our new hemi-anechoic chamber with Brüel and Kjær calibration instruments allowed us to precisely measure and qualify the performance of our Gen 2 microphones as they would exist in the real world—within their enclosure and with windscreens attached. 

The on-site “sound lab” also allowed our engineers to experiment and iterate in real-time, designing low-noise, high-fidelity microphones that accurately capture sound. (The Micro 2, with its flatter frequency response, is an outcome.)

The result? You get cleaner recordings with fewer distractions—accelerating analysis and discovery.
